NAO provides operations and project management services that help implement client projects, and facilitates partnerships with the United Nations Secretariat and the United Nations Development Group.

In addition, NAO serves as a liaison between UNOPS headquarters and the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Population Fund, which supports and supervises UNOPS activities.

Worldwide Mine Action and humanitarian demining services

UNOPS helps clients plan, implement, manage and monitor their Mine Action projects and programmes. UNOPS services may be limited to employment contract administration or extend to planning and managing an entire operation. Similarly, UNOPS can support specific aspects of Mine Action work, such as mine-risk education.

The UNOPS Mine Action Team provides these services to various partners, including the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the United Nations Development Programme. Learn more about UNOPS Mine Action support.

Support services for the Small Grants Programme

The Small Grants Programme (SGP) finances locally managed environmental projects in more than one hundred countries around the world. on behalf of UNDP and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), NAO administers and manages grant disbursements, and develops operational tools and local capacity. General support services for clients

NAO supports activities of partner organizations such as the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), UNDP, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations System Influenza Coordination (UNSIC). Services include hiring international experts and consultants, general administrative support, training, and meeting and conference services.
