Focus areas

UNOPS offers implementation support services to partners who have political, policy or substantive mandates. Therefore UNOPS focus areas are demand-driven and will be reviewed annually.

The current focus is to provide implementation support services to partners in the following areas:

Census and elections
UNOPS has a proven track record in delivering the services that support successful implementation of census and elections projects, including procurement of goods, recruitment of support personnel and infrastructure support.

Environment
On behalf of partners UNOPS helps reverse environmental damage, mitigate environmental risks, raise local, regional and global awareness and facilitate better resource management.

Health
UNOPS can provide comprehensive support services including assistance in procurement of medical supplies and equipment, construction of health infrastructure, financial management and capacity development.

Physical infrastructure
The United Nations General Assembly reconfirmed UNOPS mandate on 20 December 2010, including its role as a central resource for the UN system in physical infrastructure development.

Justice and security sector reform
UNOPS can provide services to partners including security sector reform, construction of security infrastructure, procurement of vehicles and equipment, humanitarian mine action and reintegration of ex-combatants and internally displaced people.
