COPENHAGEN – As part of its ongoing commitment to deliver cost-efficient support to its clients UNOPS today announces several changes to its global office structure.
UNOPS will now have a network of five regional offices and 12 operations centres as well as several project centres. In total UNOPS will have established offices in 27 locations and a number of smaller presences elsewhere, involved in projects in more than 130 countries.
As part of this restructuring, the Middle East Regional Office will merge with the European Regional Office and be based in Copenhagen at UNOPS headquarters. The Middle East Regional Office in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, has been closed.
Jan Mattsson, Executive Director of UNOPS said: “We have enjoyed a fruitful working relationship with both the people and authorities in Dubai and it has not been an easy decision to close the office. We remain committed to our operations in the Middle East and to ensuring that the skills and services UNOPS has to offer are available to clients in the region.”
Working in many of the world’s most challenging environments, UNOPS provides project management, procurement and support services to United Nations agencies, international financial institutions, governments and non-governmental organisations, helping our partners implement peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects.
