BUENOS AIRES - Argentina’s Ministry of Health has bought new ambulances for the country, to improve access to basic health services.
Over a hundred ambulances have been purchased to support an Argentinean Government plan to implement health policies developed by provincial governments.

The ‘Health Emergency Framework’, established in 2002, is designed to build an effective health system and improve the quality of health of Argentina’s citizens. The ambulances will provide services to more than 26 million Argentineans.

The Ministry of Health is responsible for delivering the ambulances to various municipalities and provincial headquarters. A total of 120 ambulances have been purchased, the majority going to the country’s capital Buenos Aires.
UNOPS procured the ambulances on behalf of the ministry. Each ambulance costs $37,500 and contains a stretcher, spinal board, oxygen tanks and a portable breathing apparatus.
The UNOPS Argentina office actively supports the Ministry of Health with several government funded projects in the provinces of Buenos Aires and Chubut. On behalf of its partners, UNOPS contracts logistics, implements procurement processes and procures ambulances, medical supplies, antiretroviral drugs and equipment.
