The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme provides young professionals interested in pursuing a career in international work with practical experience in a United Nations organization.  

Under the guidance of a senior member of staff, JPOs learn from experienced colleagues how to identify, design, implement, monitor and evaluate United Nations programmes or perform specialized functions within areas central to UNOPS operations such as communications, legal affairs or procurement.

Assignments may have a regional, national or sectoral focus and can last for one to two years. JPOs are sponsored by their national governments.
