UNOPS has invested a lot in terms of my training and experience, and I have benefitted from this throughout my career. Now, I’m able to repay that investment by coaching and training as well as sharing knowledge with colleagues in the Africa region.
I have had the opportunity to move internationally and gain experience from many different environments from regional programmes to country offices. I have been able to actively participate in the UNOPS change processes, for example, with the introduction of a global ERP system.
I first joined UNOPS in Senegal where I worked as Programme Support Manager, before moving to our Nairobi office as Finance Specialist, and then later reassigning to Kinshasa, DRC as Operations Manager; where I have responsibilities over Finance and Administration for the Operations Centre.
UNOPS gives you your chance to participate in challenging initiatives, in an open environment where you can communicate and share your ideas at different levels of the organization. I really feel that my work is appreciated and I’m rewarded for my performance. I’m proud to work at UNOPS because we are self financing and therefore have to be innovative, cost conscious, and efficient, with the spirit and values of a UN organization.
I know that we make a difference. Here in DRC, it is always enriching to see children on the way to schools in the North and South Kivu districts that UNOPS has helped its partners rehabilitate. I know that each time I approved a financial transaction, I have somehow contributed to providing education to hundreds of young Congolese.
