The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)
Executive Board
The Executive Board of UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS was established by General Assembly resolution 48/162 of 20 December 1993 and is composed of representatives of 36 Member States serving on a rotating basis.
The Executive Board provides intergovernmental oversight and guidance to the three organizations, ensuring alignment with the policy direction of the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, and the United Nations Charter.
Since becoming an independent, self-financing organization in 1995, UNOPS has reported to the Executive Board through its Executive Director. As part of its governance responsibilities the Board oversees and reviews UNOPS strategic direction, financial performance and oversight matters.
Members of the Executive Board
Members of the Executive Board are elected annually by the Economic and Social Council for three-year terms, with the exception of the Western European and other States group, which follows its own rotation arrangement.
The Bureau of the Executive Board, composed of one President and four Vice-Presidents, is elected annually at the first regular session. The Bureau supports the organization of the Board’s work and facilitates dialogue and decision-making among members.

New York Board and External Relations Office
The New York Board and External Relations Office (NYBER) coordinates UNOPS engagement with the Executive Board of UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS and represents the organization in intergovernmental processes at UN Headquarters in New York.
As the primary focal point for engagement with Member States, UN entities and other key stakeholders, NYBER supports the positioning of UNOPS within the UN system and facilitates inter-agency coordination and collaboration.
NYBER strengthens the visibility and profile of UNOPS in New York by promoting coherent institutional messaging in coordination with headquarters, regional offices and country offices.
