It is a UNOPS voice that internally displaced people in Iraq hear when they call a toll-free help line to find lost relatives, lost papers or simply find a place to sleep. It is a UNOPS engineer who leads road-building in South Sudan, so that refugees in camps can get the supplies they need. And, it is UNOPS who makes sure nearly 10,000 project workers across the UN system are hired and paid.
Yes, our people are our strength.
Today, on UN Staff Day, I commend their courage and celebrate their commitment.
I am proud to work alongside such an exceptional group of individuals.
