In addition, UNOPS supports multi-country programmes that have activities within Sudan:

Darfur Urban Water Supply Project (2010-2014)

This project, funded by the UK Department for International Development, delivered improvements to water source transmission infrastructure to facilitate a sustainable water supply to urban areas in Darfur, as well as introducing capacity development for local Urban Water Administrations. Throughout the project, UNOPS provided technical guidance and support, while maintaining a solid partnership and continued coordination among local stakeholders. The project benefitted Darfur's four state capitals: El Fasher, El Geneina, Nyala and Zalingei, improving health and sanitation for the local populations. The improvements have made water available to more than 240,000 residents, surpassing the initial target of water availability for 150,000 beneficiaries.
