Hosted during UN General Assembly week, the Bloomberg Global Business Forum brings together a community of global leaders who will work together to address the most pressing economic issues facing us today. Topics of discussion include: Creating economic growth while encouraging technological innovation; the need for new international trade and immigration policies; identifying the greatest areas of opportunity for progress; and forging new coalitions to combat existential environmental threats. UNOPS Director Grete Faremo will be attending this event.
Jointly organized by UNOPS, the European Commission, and the Government of Japan on the margins of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, this event will promote quality infrastructure and its international standardization. Participants will take stock of current activities, projects and policy actions to support the development of quality infrastructure, illustrate examples of good practices, and identify possible future collaboration opportunities and joint activities. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will be a keynote speaker at the event.
This high-level event is a follow up to two working-level dialogues on water as a global challenge. Convened in Spring 2017, the events discussed ways to improve the integration and coordination of the UN's work on water-related goals and targets, and suggested a way forward. UNOPS Director Grete Faremo will be attending this event.

Grete Faremo, UNOPS Executive Director, will attend the debate, which focuses on the theme: 'Focusing on people – striving for peace and a decent life for all on a sustainable planet.'

UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will participate in panel discussion on redefining fragility in the African context.

The President of the UN General Assembly will convene a two-day high-level meeting to discuss the effective implementation of the New Urban Agenda and to reflect on the positioning of UN-Habitat in that regard. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will participate in a panel discussion entitled 'Implementing the New Urban Agenda and the SDGs – the role of the United Nations System.'

Arendalsuka is a politically independent annual forum held in Norway. National delegates in politics, society and industry meet each other and the public to debate and develop policies for the present and future. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will participate in several panel events at Arendalsuka, including: 15 August: Panel debate on the circular economy in the process industry. 16 August: Panel of experts will discuss implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals during a working breakfast on development. 17 August: Panel debate on technology as a major driver of change, as well as a panel debate on democracy
This year's World Trade Organization Global Review theme is promoting trade, inclusiveness and connectivity for sustainable development. During this event, stakeholders will look at how Aid for Trade can contribute to the integration of developing countries and least developed countries into the multilateral trading system, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will participate in a panel discussion during a plenary session entitled 'Aid and inclusive trade: Financing trade connectivity and the Sustainable Development Goals' on 11 July 2017.
