UNOPS supports the government of Ethiopia, the UN Country Team and other development partners in efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our team designs projects to reinforce and bolster development priorities in sustainable procurement, project management and infrastructure, and works to strengthen national capacity and capability to deliver quality services.

We provide environmentally friendly solutions and innovative models to modernize Ethiopia’s agricultural sector, provide clean energy to off-grid areas and improve health services throughout the country.

  • UNOPS Impact in Ethiopia

    • Procured 320,000 metric tons of wheat to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the price of one of Ethiopia's major staple crops, in order to help food insecure and vulnerable households.
    • Rebuilding and improving access to basic services and climate-resilient infrastructure for conflict-affected communities in Tigray on behalf of Ethiopia's Ministry of Finance, as part of a World Bank-funded project.
    • Enhanced water supply and sanitation infrastructure to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases in Qoloji Internally Displaced Persons Camp – the largest IDP camp in Ethiopia – as part of a government of Japan-funded project.
