The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting brings together leaders of global society. This year's theme is: 'Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.' UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will be participating in this event.
Under the theme of solving global challenges through partnerships, government leaders, senior UNOPS personnel and representatives from more than 50 global companies will come together to discuss, learn and explore opportunities to work together to support the Sustainable Development Goals.
In collaboration with local partners, UNOPS organizes the UNOPS Possibilities (UP) Forum in targeted countries, with the goal of providing traditionally disadvantaged businesses with ideas and tools to encourage their success. This UP Forum in Myanmar is conducted in partnership with the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID).
Hosted by Nordic countries in collaboration with the High-Level Committee on Management (HLCM) Procurement Network, representatives from UN organizations based at UN City will deliver brief presentations. The seminars will also give UN buyers and vendors a chance to meet. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will give the opening speech for the event.
Hosted at the United Nations University (UNU) headquarters, UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will join Dr. Sabine Becker-Thierry, UNU Chief of Staff, for a conversation on how SDG implementation can be achieved and UNOPS role.
Co-hosted by UNOPS and UN Women, this side event to the Second Committee, 73rd session of the General Assembly, brings experts together to explore key policy choices facing countries as they seek to address gaps in their capacity to effectively plan, deliver and manage sustainable, resilient, inclusive and gender-responsive infrastructure. Nick O’Regan, UNOPS Director for Infrastructure and Project Management, will take part in the panel discussion.
The event will bring together a worldwide community of engineers to look at how real change can be brought about towards achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Representatives from UNOPS Infrastructure and Project Management Group will be speaking at the event.
The Blockchain Symposium will focus on blockchain in relation to identity, financial services, the Sustainable Development Goals and land registration. A book on the legal aspects of blockchain – a co-production of UNOPS, Blockchainprojects.nl and a consortium of legal experts – will also be presented during the symposium. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will give the closing remarks.
This Ministerial level side event to the UN General Assembly offers a platform to discuss essential elements of quality infrastructure and its promotion as an international standard. Co-organized by UNOPS, the European Commission and the Government of Japan, the event will focus on financing infrastructure and how this can be achieved without exposing countries to unsustainable debt risk. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo is speaking at this event.
This event will introduce the Defeat Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) Partnership, a new ‘public-private-people’ partnership with the goal of sustained actions against NCDs, to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all (Sustainable Development Goal 3). UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo is speaking at the launch.
The General Assembly is one of the six main organs of the UN – and the only one in which all 193 Member States have equal representation. During the General Assembly, Member States discuss and work together on a wide array of international issues covered by the UN Charter.
Organized by UNOPS China and Qinhuangdao People’s Municipal Government – in collaboration with Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute of Johns Hopkins University and Peking University Sixth Hospital – the theme of this year’s Summit is neuroscience and mental health. UNOPS Director for the Asia Region Sanjay Mathur will speak during the opening ceremony.
