Sanjay Mathur was appointed UNOPS Director of the Africa Region in 2026, bringing over 30 years of experience within the organization to the role. He previously served as UNOPS Director of the Asia Pacific Region from 2015, following his 2007 appointment as Deputy Regional Director for Asia Pacific. Throughout his tenure at UNOPS, Mr. Mathur has held various project and portfolio management positions across sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. His earlier career includes private-sector experience in the United States before joining the UN Development Programme in 1992 as Head of the Consulting Services Unit.
