Enhancing the capacity of Ukraine’s healthcare system

With nearly $1.1 million of funding from the government of Japan, UNOPS procured and delivered medical equipment for hospitals in Kharkiv and Lviv, Ukraine.

The equipment will help enhance the capacities of the medical facilities to provide efficient and timely medical service to more than 30,000 patients a year.

We are proud to be a trusted partner of the governments of Japan and Ukraine to deliver the life-saving equipment and actively contribute to the wellbeing of Ukrainian people.

The Military Medical Clinical Centre of the Northern Region (Kharkiv) received a stationary digital X-ray system with remote control and fibre-optic bronchoscopy systems while the Military Medical Clinical Centre of the Western Region (Lviv) received a computed tomography machine.

"We sincerely hope that the equipment installed will be of great help in providing efficient medical treatment to the soldiers and local citizens who are suffering from the entrenched conflict," said H.E. Takashi Kurai, Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine.

“We are incredibly grateful to the people of Japan for this valuable gift,” said Oleksii Martseniuk, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

This project builds on a successful partnership between UNOPS and the governments of Japan and Ukraine, contributing to the country’s humanitarian assistance, human security and healthcare needs.
