Executive Board of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS concludes field visit to Jordan, highlights strategic partnerships and impactful results
A delegation of ambassadors from the Executive Board of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), and UNOPS has concluded its field visit to Jordan. The visit provided Board members with an in-depth understanding of the country’s progress toward sustainable development and the strong partnership between the government of Jordan, the UN and local communities.

During the mission, the delegation engaged with senior government officials and visited projects in Amman, Madaba, Aqaba, Karak, Al Ghabawi and the Zaatari refugee camp in Mafraq, underscoring the UN’s continued support for Jordan’s development priorities and Economic Modernization Vision. The Board witnessed first-hand the impact of UN-supported initiatives advancing climate action, inclusive growth and social protection.
Key engagements included productive meetings with ministers and senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs; Planning and International Cooperation; Environment; Education; Health; and Social Development, where the Board discussed national priorities and achievements in advancing sustainable development goals.
The delegation also visited the Aqaba Marine Reserve, where UNDP supports climate resilience, conservation and sustainable livelihoods. In Karak, Board members observed UNFPA’s work on integrated health services for women and girls at the Institute for Family Health Centre. Visits to Madaba and Al Ghabawi showcased UNOPS contributions to employment creation, school infrastructure and the UN 2720 Mechanism for Gaza, which facilitates humanitarian aid delivery. At the Zaatari refugee camp, the delegation engaged with the UN Refugee Agency and visited a UNFPA-supported maternal health clinic and women’s safe space.
The visit concluded with a showcase event bringing together entrepreneurs and small-to-medium enterprises to highlight innovative and sustainable business models. The event offered an opportunity for dialogue on UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS initiatives supporting inclusive growth and expanding opportunities for women and youth.
Members of the Executive Board commended the strong collaboration among UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS with national and local partners. They acknowledged Jordan’s progress and reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation under the Economic Modernization Vision, aimed at advancing resilient, inclusive and sustainable development.

Established by General Assembly resolution 48/162 in 1993, the Executive Board of UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS comprises 36 Member States. The Executive Board provides intergovernmental support and oversight to the three organizations, in line with the guidance of the UN General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, and the UN Charter.
