Head of new S3I advisory committee confirmed
UNOPS has announced the chair of its new Sustainable Investments in Infrastructure and Innovation (S3I) initiative advisory committee.

Based in Helsinki, Finland, UNOPS S3I initiative aims to break down barriers and create opportunities for investors to generate financial returns above prevailing market rates with positive social, environmental and economic impacts.
Mr. Bart Le Blanc has been appointed as chair of the S3I advisory committee. He will lead a diverse group of experts to provide independent advice on proposals and portfolio management for the initiative. This includes one of the most ambitious affordable housing project portfolios in the world of more than 1.3 million housing units in partnership with governments and the private sector. These projects aim to improve millions of lives, as well as provide local jobs and support sustainable local economies.
Mr. Le Blanc has more than 25 years of experience as an international banking executive. He has worked extensively with the government of the Netherlands, including as Director-General of Budget at the Ministry of Finance. In the 1990s he served as the first Secretary-General of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and later as a Vice-President. Between 2003 and 2015, Mr. Le Blanc served as a board member of national pension funds in the Netherlands. Since 2016, Mr. Le Blanc has led UNOPS Investment Committee.
UNOPS also selected 10 advisory group members. Details will be confirmed ahead of the first inaugural session of the committee in May 2021. The terms of reference for the committee can be viewed here.
