Third UNOPS Possibilities (UP) Forum launches in Brazil
The forum provided traditionally disadvantaged businesses with ideas and tools to encourage their success.
The two-day forum took place in partnership with Brazilian non-profit organization Sebrae as part of the 8th Fomenta Nacional, an event designed to encourage small businesses to supply to the public sector.
"It is amazing to see so many Brazilian entrepreneurs at one event," said Patricia Moser, Director of UNOPS Procurement. "UNOPS is thrilled to have been able to actively participate, present and inspire these small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)."
Through panel discussions, UP Forum participants learned how successful Brazilian entrepreneurs have overcome some of the challenges that could have prevented them from doing business with UNOPS. They also received practical advice on how to participate in procurement processes, as well as had the opportunity to network and meet UNOPS buyers.
The UNOPS Possibilities programme is about exploring and unlocking the potential of local small and medium-sized enterprises and traditionally disadvantaged businesses.
An event like this is important for opening minds and showing different paths for people who want to work hard to improve UNOPS projects,”
During the event, participants were introduced to the UNOPS Possibilities Portal, a new platform where SMEs and minority-owned businesses can submit their innovative solutions to UNOPS for consideration. For more information about the UNOPS Possibilities Portal, click here.
"It has been such a great opportunity to show the potential and possibilities that we can offer as a global organization," said Claudia Valenzuela, Project Center Manager of UNOPS Brasilia.
