UNOPS signs new Host Country Agreement with the government of the Republic of Moldova

The agreement represents a significant milestone for development cooperation in the country.

The Host Country Agreement is a significant milestone for UNOPS and solidifies our presence and collaboration with the Republic of Moldova for the acceleration of the SDGs.

“This achievement supports UNOPS mission to make a positive impact on the lives of the people of the Republic of Moldova and further enhances our capacity to deliver on UNOPS mandate in the region,” added Moin Karim.

The Host Country Agreement comes after months of negotiations that included a visit by UNOPS Executive Director, Jorge Moreira Da Silva earlier in the year. Under the agreement, UNOPS will draw on its expertise in sustainable project management, procurement and project management services to support the country’s national development priorities and European Union accession efforts.

UNOPS established an office in the Republic of Moldova in May 2023 and operates under the guidance and direct supervision of the UNOPS Ukraine Office. Efforts are underway to build a team of local and international experts to contribute to projects aimed at facilitating the Republic of Moldova’s infrastructure development and regional integration.
