The Joint Meeting of the Executive Boards of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS, UNICEF, UN Women and WFP will take place in New York at UN Headquarters.
Organized by the European Commission, this event brings the development community together to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. This year’s theme is ‘Women and girls at the forefront of sustainable development: Protect, empower, invest.’ The Director of UNOPS Infrastructure and Project Management Group, Nick O’Regan, will participate in a debate panel on women and girls in urban spaces.
Participants will assess efforts undertaken, as well as opportunities to strengthen the UN’s work on peacebuilding and sustaining peace. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will attend.
Participants will discuss how to improve private sector contributions to the 2030 Agenda and strengthen partnerships. UNOPS Head of Global Innovation and Technology Jonas Svensson will participate in a panel discussion on innovation.
The event will explore new ways to address the critical gap in financing for national non-communicable disease responses. UNOPS Partnerships and Liaison Group Director Nikolaj Gilbert will give a keynote address.
The 21st International Meeting of National Mine Action Programme Directors and United Nations Advisers will focus on the theme of advancing protection, peace and development.
The Global Opportunity Report 2018 will highlight the possibilities and solutions for reaching the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will participate in the launch of the report.
