Supplier Sustainability Programme

DRiVE is UNOPS supplier sustainability programme.

DRiVE enables UNOPS to evaluate all suppliers on the same principles and to identify and resolve the risks that are inherent in all supply chains. It serves as a risk management tool for the UNOPS supply chain, enabling greater visibility of suppliers and their activities.

DRiVE is based on a self-assessment questionnaire that is part of UNOPS procurement process. The questions and themes chosen are in accordance with the terms of the UN Supplier Code of Conduct and UNOPS organizational priorities.

It is also a tool for supplier engagement that enables UNOPS to contact suppliers with knowledge about their setup and operations. It is a starting point for all of these conversations.

The principles of DRiVE

  • Continuous improvement is the basis for all interactions with suppliers. There is always room for improvement; suppliers should be encouraged and inspired to make them.

  • Open dialogue with suppliers is essential for understanding their situation and work context. It is critical to provide proper feedback to the supplier and inspire them to make these improvements.

  • Value: DRiVE needs to bring value to partners, suppliers, beneficiaries and UNOPS.

  • Data is key: Data is the essential ingredient to DRiVE. It underpins everything from supplier engagement to understanding the programme’s impact. Hence, verifying the data has a prominent role when working with DRiVE.

Key recommendations to vendors

  • Fill in the DRiVE Supplier Sustainability Questionnaire as honestly and accurately as possible to understand the areas that are asked about and the expectations that are presented.

  • Use the questionnaire as a road map for creating your own Corrective Action and Preventive Action Plan to manage and mitigate your impact in the supply chain.
