Under the leadership of the government of South Sudan, UNOPS will implement the South Sudan Livelihoods and Resilience Project, which will help connect agricultural areas and facilitate the flow of products to urban regions – enhancing agricultural productivity and economic resilience.

The project will focus on enhancing the resilience and livelihoods of rural communities, especially vulnerable groups such as internally displaced persons, returnees and people with disabilities.

This project will provide crucial, climate-smart infrastructure that enhances agricultural productivity, connectivity and economic resilience, in line with Community Driven Development Plans.

"UNOPS will work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to implement this crucial project providing climate-smart infrastructure to communities in South Sudan," said UNOPS Country Manager in South Sudan Petronella Kasaka Halwiindi.

Using more than $25.7 million in funding from the International Fund for Agricultural Development, UNOPS will engage in community mobilization activities, help strengthen community-based organizations, procure goods and services, manage in-kind grants, implement infrastructure, rehabilitate feeder roads and support institutional capacity building.

This will all help strengthen food security, improve resilience to climate shock, boost market access and improve livelihoods.
