Paving the way for sustainable agriculture in Burkina Faso
UNOPS is supporting the government of Burkina Faso to increase food security, with financing from the World Bank.
In Burkina Faso, agriculture is the foundation of the national economy, employing more than 80 per cent of the working population – but the sector faces critical structural and climate-related challenges.
The Agricultural Transformation Support Project, financed by the World Bank, is helping to address this by strengthening agricultural productivity, modernizing processing infrastructure and improving market access for agricultural producers.
"Agriculture is at the heart of Burkina Faso’s development – it's a key driver of prosperity and resilience," said Silvia Gallo, Director of the UNOPS Multi-Country Office for West Africa.
To support the government of Burkina Faso in the preparation phase of the project, UNOPS will procure vehicles and computer equipment, with financing from the World Bank.
These items will support the project implementation team with the resources they need to implement the project efficiently and effectively.
