UNOPS and Asian Development Bank strengthen partnership to deliver practical solutions for communities across Asia and the Pacific
The partnership will build on the expertise of both organizations to turn ambitious development goals into action across the region.
UNOPS has signed a letter of intent with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to help tackle some of the toughest development challenges across Asia and the Pacific, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected situations and Small Island Developing States in the region.
Through the new framework agreement, the partnership will bring together the expertise of both organizations to deliver where needs are greatest and progress can be hardest.
Across Asia, including in challenging contexts, UNOPS and ADB have developed a strong partnership that’s delivering tangible results. I am delighted to have signed a new framework agreement between our organizations to continue this partnership, with a particular focus on addressing needs in fragile and conflict-affected situations, and Small Island Developing States.
Across Asia, including in challenging contexts, @UNOPS and the @ADB_HQ have developed a strong partnership that’s delivering tangible results in areas like health and governance. I had a very productive meeting with @ADBPresident Masato Kanda in Manila, to reflect on the impact of our work together, and explore new areas of cooperation. I am delighted to have signed a new framework agreement between our organizations to continue this partnership, with a particular focus on addressing needs in fragile and conflict-affected situations, and Small Island Developing States. Looking forward to building on what we’ve achieved together!

“In fragile and conflict-affected settings, financing development is only part of the challenge. Delivering projects and essential services on the ground can be even harder. Our cooperation with UNOPS has helped us overcome these barriers and reach communities where implementation is most difficult,” said Masato Kanda, President of ADB.
ADB and UNOPS will focus on four key areas of support:
- Providing targeted support to vulnerable regions through technical assistance, sustainable infrastructure and operational expertise
- Strengthening national systems and local capacities
- Promoting sustainable procurement
- Accelerating progress across key areas including climate resilience, renewable energy, urban development, health and access to clean water.
Together, UNOPS and the ADB will work to build a more resilient and inclusive future for people in Asia and the Pacific – with a strong focus on local ownership and advancing sustainable development.
