President of Peru presents prototype for UNOPS-procured ambulance fleet
UNOPS is working with the government of Peru to expand access to critical health services, through a modern fleet of ambulances.
The President of Peru joined representatives from UNOPS and the Ministry of Health this week at an event where she presented the prototype for a new fleet of emergency medical units, procured by UNOPS.
“Today we celebrate unity, effort and teamwork [...]. The continuity of our health initiatives represents the life of every Peruvian and it is everyone’s duty to contribute,” said President Dina Boluarte at the event.
Funded by the government of Peru and in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the state-of-the-art ambulances will be delivered by UNOPS to urban and rural areas, strengthening pre-hospital care services in 16 regions across the country.
Each ambulance unit will be equipped with 4,311 items of medical equipment, ensuring patients with critical needs get timely access to life-saving care.
"This project reflects how cooperation between the government of Peru and the UN can translate into concrete results to improve the health of the population,” said Nick Gardner, Director of the UNOPS Andean Multi-Country Office.
“We incorporate international quality and sustainability standards at each stage of the ambulance acquisition process,” he added.
