UNOPS Project of the Year Awards – an annual internal initiative – recognize outstanding achievements in project delivery across all regions around the world. This year, winners were selected from more than 1,100 projects delivered by UNOPS in over 130 countries and territories in 2025.

"As the world continues to grapple with crisis and conflict, UNOPS personnel continue to respond. Every day, they show up and deliver in our projects – with agility and at scale – focused always on delivering for the people who need it most," said Jorge Moreira da Silva, UNOPS Executive Director.

Projects were assessed using a range of criteria – including equality and social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and contribution towards UNOPS efforts to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals and scale up climate action. The winning projects demonstrated excellence in project management and embodied UN core values throughout their implementation.

Winners of UNOPS 2025 Project of the Year Awards include:

  • Ethiopia

In Ethiopia, structural reliance on imported vaccines has created a critical vulnerability in public health security. To build long-term national self-reliance, UNOPS and the World Bank partnered with the Ministry of Health to lay the foundation for domestic vaccine production – helping to secure the health of generations to come.

  • Global

Through the UNOPS-hosted NDC Partnership, UNOPS is supporting efforts to advance sustainable development and drive ambitious climate action in over 60 countries, in close collaboration with governments – accelerating the transition to clean energy and building climate resilience where it is needed most.

  • Iraq

Years of protracted conflict in Iraq have left rural communities devastated, many without access to basic services. To help bridge the gap between emergency relief and long-term development, UNOPS and the government of Germany's KfW Development Bank worked to rebuild people’s homes and restore dignity.

  • Sri Lanka

UNOPS partnered with the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme and the World Bank to help combat plastic waste in aquatic ecosystems. The project successfully verified circular economy innovations, accelerating the region's transition to sustainable practices – helping pave the way toward a plastic-free future.

  • Ukraine

As a result of the ongoing war, over 130,000 square kilometres of Ukraine are potentially contaminated with explosive ordnance. To address this threat, UNOPS partnered with the government of the Netherlands to build domestic demining capacity from the ground up – laying the groundwork for a safe, resilient recovery in Ukraine.
