UNOPS and the Mekong River Commission enhance cooperation to protect vital water resources

UNOPS is committed to supporting the Mekong River Commission’s (MRC) goal of ensuring the sustainable development of the Mekong River.

On 3 April 2018, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Agreement during the 3rd MRC International Conference and Summit.

The agreement formalizes the partnership through which both organizations aim to develop evidence-based solutions for sustainable water and land resources management, improve food security and livelihoods, and protect the environment.

The partnership will strengthen MRC member countries’ knowledge sharing and capacity development in the areas of water and catchment management, irrigation, sanitation and environmental protection. It will also support joint research, foster the co-development of sustainable solutions, and provide access to expertise and personnel for projects and joint initiatives.
