UNOPS Executive Director to visit China

The Executive Director will visit China from 24 to 26 June, to participate in the Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and meet national authorities.

The Executive Director of UNOPS and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jorge Moreira da Silva, will visit China to hold meetings with government representatives and participate in the 2025 Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Annual Meeting in Beijing, where he will attend a number of high-level meetings and panels.

During his visit, the Executive Director will also hold meetings with government representatives, including from the ministries of finance and foreign affairs, and China’s International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

He will also participate in a symposium on Asia-Pacific Cooperation and Development co-organized by the United Nations in China and the China International Cooperation Center.

UNOPS has been working in China since 2015, supporting the government in areas of global innovation, health, agriculture and food safety.

In addition, UNOPS works with national partners to engage small and middle-sized enterprises (SMEs) and women-owned businesses in UN procurement processes, to align with sustainable standards and best practices.
