UNOPS in Djibouti supports the government and other partners in their efforts to drive sustainable development and improve service delivery. Providing a range of services – including project management and procurement – UNOPS supports key areas including health services, resilient infrastructure, human resources, contract management and project coordination.

In alignment with UNOPS regional priorities coordinated from Ethiopia, UNOPS in Djibouti develops and implements programmes addressing crisis response and youth unemployment, equipping basic infrastructure with renewable energy and implementing climate adaptation strategies to help improve the resilience of vulnerable, often rural communities.

  • UNOPS Impact in Djibouti

    • Helping to mitigate the health and socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in vulnerable communities across seven countries in the Horn of Africa by providing coordinated, coherent and comprehensive actions on behalf of the European Union and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development – including the procurement of personal protective equipment, test kits, ambulances and a mobile laboratory.
    • Improving infrastructure, including building a shelter and clinic, to provide a safe space for migrants to file legal cases against traffickers or smugglers – helping to protect, assist and uphold the rights and dignity of those most vulnerable.
