UNOPS has been providing support to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) since 2011 and established a country office in Vientiane in 2017.
UNOPS works in the areas of health and good governance by providing support in procurement, sustainable infrastructure and project management in the country.

UNOPS impact in Lao PDR
- Strengthening the capacity of the Lao Department of Customs to improve border control management against illegal transboundary activities.
- Through the rehabilitation of Mittaphab Hospital which serves over 110,000 patients every year, UNOPS has helped enhance the healthcare system and quality of medical services in the country.
- The procurement of medical and laboratory equipment benefitted more than 38,500 patients, doctors and medical personnel in Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Champasak and Savannakhet provinces – strengthening the overall COVID-19 response in Lao PDR.
