The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)

New parliament for Grenada

The newly constructed House of Parliament in St. George was inaugurated on 21 June 2018.

UNOPS provided technical support to the Government in efforts to replace the parliament building destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

The new building will engage the population and help exercise democracy throughout the country.

With funding from the Governments of Australia, Grenada, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates, the new structure is climate resilient and will help mitigate impacts from future climatic events.

The devastating 2017 hurricane season served as a reminder of the urgent need to improve infrastructure and infrastructure planning throughout the Caribbean.

Currently, UNOPS is implementing a range of resilient infrastructure projects throughout the region, including, but not limited to, Curacao, Haiti, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
