The new and improved One UN compound in Burundi set to open next month

UNOPS played a major supervisory role throughout the project, helping the contractor get the work done on schedule and address on-site issues.

The United Nations Development Programme contracted UNOPS to rehabilitate the existing One UN compound in Bujumbura. The project also included the construction of additional buildings and facilities, for the benefit of those who live and work there.

As part of the project, a new visitor centre was built; five existing residential houses were rehabilitated; and general works were completed, including a new parking lot and three septic tanks.

The inaugural ceremony of the rehabilitated compound took place on 24 October 2016. The official handover of the compound is scheduled for November 2016.
