The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)
UNOPS Executive Director to attend Munich Security Conference 2026
UNOPS Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva will participate in the Munich Security Conference 2026 from 13-15 February 2026, alongside global leaders, policymakers and security experts.
He will engage in discussions focused on the intersection of peace and security, development, and climate action.
Over half of UNOPS portfolio is in fragile and conflict-affected contexts. With expertise in infrastructure, procurement and project management, UNOPS offers its partners practical solutions to respond to immediate needs and help countries transition from fragility to sustainable peace.
Mr. Moreira da Silva will present examples of UNOPS work in crisis response, sustainable infrastructure and reconstruction of basic social services, supporting livelihoods, mitigating explosive risks and climate action. More on the work of UNOPS can be found here.
Mr. Moreira da Silva has been the Executive Director of UNOPS since April 2023. He has over 20 years of experience working on development, climate change, energy and environment in the public and development sectors.
Over the past three years, he has travelled extensively to UNOPS project sites in the Gaza Strip, Ukraine, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Sudan, Syria, Mozambique and others. He has recently returned from a visit to Gaza - and has spoken widely about the dire situation he has observed there, and the need for immediate action on early recovery, amid big talk on reconstruction.
