After more than a decade of conflict, the protracted crisis in Syria – deepened by natural disasters and public health emergencies – has significantly weakened essential public infrastructure, and hindered millions from accessing reliable basic services like healthcare, education and electricity. Over 16 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance.
Since 2017, UNOPS has been working in close collaboration with the UN family and partners to provide infrastructure, procurement and operational support services to address urgent needs, and strengthen humanitarian response initiatives for the people of Syria.
As emerging political dynamics present possibilities to advance recovery and development in Syria, UNOPS is committed to providing the practical solutions needed to help shape a more sustainable, inclusive future for all.
