UNOPS is working in Ukraine with the government, the UN family, and other local and international partners to help the country respond to urgent needs resulting from the ongoing war, build resilience, and lay the foundations of a sustainable recovery.

We provide partners with procurement, infrastructure and project management services to help achieve tangible results in sectors such as energy, housing, health, education and mine action. The projects we implement support local communities and national authorities, building capacity to provide key services, promote economic opportunities, and increase resilience.

UNOPS is committed to helping Ukraine build a sustainable and prosperous future – from supporting the country’s EU accession ambitions, to advancing climate action and progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

Key Information

  • UNOPS impact in Ukraine

    • Procurement for impact: delivered more than 1,000 units of energy equipment, along with heavy-duty vehicles, firefighting solutions, and passenger buses, supporting critical services in war-affected communities. UNOPS also continues to apply our procurement expertise to address urgent and long-standing health-related needs.
    • Infrastructure for resilience: rehabilitated over 55 multi-apartment buildings in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv, improving living conditions for residents. Repairing over 70 schools in multiple regions to provide thousands of children with safe learning environments. Improving the infrastructure of health, bringing vital services closer to people who need them..
    • Mine action for a safer future: supporting the government of Ukraine to strengthen the State Special Transport Service's ability to carry out humanitarian mine action. This work is helping the country build a long-term, sustainable response to the risks from explosive ordnance.

  • This gymnasium in downtown Mykolaiv is considered for restoration. Apart from being a key educational facility, it is also a building of great cultural value - one of the oldest surviving public structures in the city.
