UNOPS has worked in Uruguay since 2005, providing support in infrastructure, procurement and project management. Partners continue to call on UNOPS to supplement their own capacities, provide technical assistance and help improve efficiency and transparency.

Throughout the country, UNOPS works to improve the health sector by constructing hospitals, polyclinics and training centres, including the construction of a center for surveillance, training and counseling on sexually transmitted diseases and HIV.

The team further helps strengthen the public works sector and improve transportation and road safety. This includes providing technical assistance for road safety audits and inspections, updating road safety regulations and providing training for road safety auditors at the national level in support of the National Roads Department of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.
