Equipping classrooms with new technologies in Argentina
New educational technology is reaching public schools across Neuquén Province, creating engaging learning environments and expanding access to digital tools.

- During a handover ceremony attended by senior provincial government officials and the UNOPS Representative in Argentina, new educational technology was delivered to 11 primary and secondary schools across Neuquén Province.
- “With this equipment and the collective efforts of everyone involved in modernizing our classrooms, the construction of the future has already begun,” said Rolando Figueroa, Governor of the Neuquén Province.
- The initiative includes the procurement and delivery of 40,000 laptops, 7,000 tablets, 1,500 charging and storage units, 450 interactive displays, 1,000 robotics kits, 242 3D printers and educational software licences. The equipment will be distributed progressively to schools across the province.
- During the event, an amendment to the project was also signed, expanding the partnership to include the Ministries of Economy and Security. This new phase will support the modernization of provincial administration through the procurement of IT equipment for the provincial technology office (OPTIC), as well as specialized technology to strengthen the security system.

Integrating technology into classrooms is about much more than modernizing teaching. It can help create more equal learning opportunities, foster digital skills, and support better educational outcomes.
In Argentina’s Neuquén Province, UNOPS is working with the provincial government to upgrade the technological infrastructure of public schools to create modern, stimulating learning environments for 250,000 students and 30,000 teachers.
From netbooks, tablets and interactive displays to 3D printers and robotics kits, the initiative will provide school personnel and students with a range of technologies adapted to different grade levels and educational modalities.
The first schools have already started to receive netbooks. In rural areas, these tools can help bridge the digital divide by giving students equal access to technology.

“For UNOPS, procurement is more than the acquisition of goods and services. It is a way to help governments deliver better services, strengthen institutions and create lasting value for the people they serve,” he added.
