The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)

The System of Systems Approach to Infrastructure

UNOPS and Oxford University are working together to support long-term national infrastructure planning for governments.

Based on collaborative work with the Government of Norway and the Infrastructure Transitions Research Consortium (ITRC) led by Oxford University, UNOPS has formed a partnership to pioneer the necessary modelling tools, support and guidance to governments to enable long-term planning on national infrastructure, which is robust in the face of an uncertain future.

This approach will support the development of infrastructure that is resilient to future shocks and will underpin strategic evidence-based decision making for investments in infrastructure. UNOPS support and guidance will include assistance to developing long-term national infrastructure plans anchored within a development vision, designed to allow governments to efficiently use existing assets, prioritize new projects, and effectively use financial resources to deliver maximum socio-economic benefits to local communities.

More details on this initiative can be seen in the video below.

This partnership is being led by the UNOPS Project Management and Infrastructure Centre of Excellence based in Jerusalem. More details of our work in Jerusalem can be found here.
