From classrooms to health facilities, digital tools are transforming learning, access to healthcare and service delivery – driving inclusion and more equitable opportunities.

With funding from the provincial government, UNOPS is procuring essential equipment to reduce the digital divide in schools and build a more efficient health system.

“UNOPS is proud of the partnerships we have forged with provinces across Argentina to help strengthen digitalization in schools and health facilities – promoting greater digital and technological equity,” said Ignacio Lacasta Casal, UNOPS portfolio manager in Argentina

To date, 700 schools have received mobile digital classrooms – including netbooks, projectors and smart boards. Health facilities will soon receive 474 desktop computers, 500 notebooks and 200 tablets, supporting the digitalization of services and helping create a more modern, agile and accessible health system.

“Half of the [health] purchase was made through a national public tender and the other half through UNOPS, the United Nations agency specializing in procurement. This allowed us to compete in the international market, obtain better prices and ensure that the entire process was transparent,” said Alfredo Cornejo, Governor of the Province of Mendoza.

Savings generated through the project allowed for the purchase of additional software licenses, enriching learning for thousands of students through gamification, videos and interactive content and ensuring teachers can better support the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
