Crisis response in Ukraine

It has been more than two years since Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since then, millions of people across the country have faced disruptions in access to basic utility services such as water supply, electricity and heating. Challenges persist in transport connectivity, access to education and healthcare.

With much of the country's land contaminated with explosives, infrastructure severely damaged, and millions of people displaced, urgent support to affected communities and helping deliver sustainable development solutions are major priorities for the government of Ukraine as well as international organizations and governments around the world.

To support response and recovery efforts, UNOPS has been working closely with the UN family, Ukraine’s national and municipal governments, and other local and international partners – including the European Union, the governments of Denmark, Japan and France, and the World Bank – to provide much-needed assistance to communities impacted by the ongoing war.

Together with our partners, we are helping identify and address critical needs at the national and local level, with the goal of achieving stability and enabling development..

With our expertise in procurement services, we’re helping to deliver essential equipment and supplies to communities and service providers throughout the country.

UNOPS is also supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. This includes the rehabilitation of schools and public infrastructure, as well as efforts to build resilience and ensure the country is able to rebuild a sustainable and inclusive future for its people.

UNOPS has been working alongside our partners in Ukraine, delivering to communities in some of the most difficult and dangerous conditions. Our office has expanded to meet the pressing needs of the people of Ukraine. We are responding to the critical needs, with an eye on long-term, sustainable reconstruction. We will be here as long as it takes.

UN in Ukraine Transitional Framework

The UN in Ukraine Transitional Framework is the strategic document of the UN development system in support of the government of Ukraine’s response to the economic and social impact of Russia’s invasion and war on Ukraine.

The goal of the Transitional Framework is to convene stakeholders around a common vision of the efforts spanning the humanitarian, recovery and development, and social inclusion spheres. The UN in Ukraine provides support to individuals, communities, and institutions to strengthen systems and build resilience, focusing on the priority areas of infrastructure reconstruction, health, education, social protection, food security, livelihoods, energy, and the environment.
